just home from the montebello, had a lovely time again... Big shout out to FRAN on reception,what a gent and so helpful. the only thing that got to us this year was the sun longers. people going down an putting their towels on the loungers and pissing off for a few hrs. "montebello" please do something about this or at least put a bigger notice around pool regarding people doing it. it's just not fair.

Positives Rooms are a good size and balconies are large and well equipped. Views are fantastic! On site shop is handy and not too expensive. Pool bar offers good value for money. Negatives Rooms are very dated and had things like sockets hanging off the wall, missing light fittings and generally very grubby. Pool area is overrun at the weekend by residents bringing friends into the complex. I can only assume a lot of the flats are privately owned. Usual sunbed issues. Despite signs all round the complex saying no more than 30mins, staff weren’t interested. Definitely not for families. No atmosphere or evening entertainment. The games room at the hotel is only open in the winter. We booked this hotel, based mainly on the numerous good reviews. I can imagine for couples or groups it might be ok, but definitely not for families. I’m not going to critique the amount of stairs to get there as I think that’s just a quirk of the whole resort! We still had a great holiday and love the resort, but please take a lot of these reviews with a pinch of salt. If you are a family, it won’t be for you.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Montebello. We understood that the apartments were self catering and budget apartments so my review is honest and from our experience. On arrival the rooms were clean and tidy with a great spacious balcony overlooking a sea view. There was a few things, the tv was smashed, light shade broken, plug sockets loose and not working. The tv was replaced immediately. But, cleanliness and the view from our balcony we couldn’t complain with at all. The apartment we was allocated was on level 5, although it had great access to the pool on the same level unfortunately the balcony had no gate so was completely open to people walking past. Anyone could access our balcony at anytime including our bedroom window. This was a problem especially at nighttime, as the hotel rooms have no air con we was unable to open the windows. This resulted in very hot, uncomfortable nights. The hotels pool is maintained well, it has lifeguards daily (the male lifeguards were lovely, even helped my daughter learn to swim. The lady lifeguard sat eating her cool bag full of lunch and watched films on her phone) The pool itself opens 10-7pm everyday. People will start to line up at 9.30 to reserve sun beds with towels. This caused many arguments when we was there. Signs are up to say if a sun-bed is unoccupied for over half and hour then management have the right to remove. Unfortunately, this is not adhered too and reception, lifeguards and management refused to be responsible for the organisation . Many of the apartments are privately owned so residents will come down early reserve and almost 2 hours later bring back friends who aren’t at the hotel to use the reserved beds. This caused many an argument, one child was pulled from a sun bed and towels thrown on the floor by a lady after a resident realised her towel had been removed and sun-bed taken. This resulted some days guests having to sit on the floors (even had some bringing bedding from the apartment to lay on) whilst sun-beds lay empty with towels on. I would advise making sure you get there early and claiming your spot if you want day at the pool!! It was reported by various different guests but was told by reception “it’s not for us to deal with”. The pool bar is reasonably priced and do food such as pizzas, chips and breakfasts. The pool bar is open but the restaurant, games room and entertainment are shut down. Also, parking is completely taken up by residents. The hotel is fairly central and a 20 minute walk into town, we counted over 180 steps down into town so had strong calf muscles by the time we returned. This was ok for our older children but our toddler struggled. But, taxis were easy to get and not expensive. We had a good holiday, we didn’t spend much time at the hotel as it wasn’t for us. There was no atmosphere and if I’m completely honest the treatment around the pool wasn’t for us either. Instead we ventured out and explored the area. I wouldn’t return to t

We had 2 x 1 bed apartments, the were next to each other on floor 1, they were great, probably not as good a view as higher up but the were perfect for us. Lovely shower room, good size bedroom with ample storage space, nice small lounge and kitchen area, it had everything we needed, being an apartment and not a studio means you get a double sized patio area, which was great for everyone coming for breakfast. We found the local area fantastic, I played golf a short drive away, Playa de Amadores is a lovely sea walk away and it is an amazing beach. We couldn't fault our stay, we arrived early but reception kept our cases whilst we went and explored for a bit. I don't think you will be disappointed in this hotel, yes it's up a hill but most of them are.
